ABOUT
Smithsburg High School (SHS) is a National Blue Ribbon School recognized for its academic performance and helping students meet their goals. With approximately 700 students, our dedicated staff is committed to ensuring that our students receive the best possible educational experience in the classroom, participating in our rich traditions, or competing as a student athlete.
SHS offers an array of completer programs including Audiovisual Communications, Carpentry, Construction, Environmental Resource Management, Power Mechanics, Computer Science, Sports Medicine, and CNA/GNA Allied Health.
With a wide variety of Advanced Placement (AP) Courses available for our students, Leopards have an opportunity to get a leap start on their college careers by enrolling in courses like AP Physics, AP US History, AP Human Geography, and many more. Additionally, Smithsburg is one of three high schools in Washington County that offers AVID programming to students. AVID stands for advancement via individual determination. The program bolsters academic preparedness for college/career readiness and provides students with an advisor for all four years of high school.
Our school prides itself on a strong team of visual and performing art educators who work passionately to grow a love in music and performance. In addition, Smithsburg High School has a rich tradition of success in extra curricular athletics. Our recently renovated athletic stadium stands out among our schools system as a phenomenal place to become a State Champion. Many of our athletes continue on to play at the collegiate level.
Our students are at the heart of what we do each day. We want to thank our community stakeholders for their continued support of SHS to enable our school community to thrive!
