A Message from Our Principal
Dear Smithsburg High School Parents and Students,
My name is Tim Eskridge and I am the Principal at Smithsburg High School. My path to leadership started in Waynesboro Area School District as a classroom teacher and coach. I transitioned to Washington County Public Schools as an assistant principal at Northern Middle School and also served as an assistant principal at Smithsburg High School from 2015-2019. I am entering my fourth year as leader of the Leopards.
We are so excited to welcome you back for another amazing school year! As the halls begin to fill with energy, laughter, and the promise of new beginnings, we are reminded of just how special it is to have our students back in the building.
This year, we continue to place literacy at the heart of everything we do. Whether it’s building strong reading habits, developing writing skills, or exploring stories that inspire and connect us, literacy will be a central part of every student’s learning journey. We believe strong readers and writers become strong thinkers, and we’re committed to giving every student the tools to succeed.
We also know that learning happens best when students feel supported and connected. That’s why we’re placing a strong focus on the social and emotional well-being of every student. Our school is a community where kindness, empathy, and belonging are just as important as academics. We encourage students to share their voices, build friendships, and know they are seen and valued every day.
We invite everyone to engage fully in our school community by joining a club or sports team, participating in events, and being a part of what makes our school an exciting place to grow and learn.
We can’t wait to see our returning students, meet our incoming 9th graders, and begin this new chapter together. Here's to a great school year ahead!
Sincerely,
Tim Eskridge
